Karen, a Boeing Brat, moved from Wichita, Kansas to the Seattle area at the age of 12.  She graduated from Redmond High School, and the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Arts in Natural Science and Education.  After teaching for 9 years with the Issaquah School District, Karen made a bold career change and became a real estate agent in 1999.  She worked with John L Scott (North Bend, then Issaquah) and ReMax NW (Kirkland).  In 2003, while with John L Scott, Karen approached Kathleen about joining up as a team with the goal of meeting the demands of their real estate business while maintaining a balance in their family lives.  The team concept worked so well that in 2007 Kathleen and Karen decided to take their business to a new plane, and formed their own corporation and real estate company, Irish-Waters, Inc.

Karen resides in North Bend on a small farm with her husband, Jerry Brown and enjoys hiking with her dogs, attending her local church, teaching, cooking, reading, playing bridge, and spending time with her grandchildren.
